Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE:BBY) Ready To Sell Its Own Tablet

Best Buy has plans for selling its own tablet, Insignia Flex that operates on Android, in lieu of $239 to $259. This was informed by reliable sources to Reuters. In the process, Best Buy has very quickly become the rivals of Amazon and Apple.

The Insignia Flex is meant to go side-by-side with Kindle Fire of Amazon, Nexus 7 of Google and a host of other Android tablets from Samsung and Google. A smaller and cheaper version of iPad tablet is supposed to hit the market soon.

In-house brand Insignia of Best Buy has shared details of the new tablet on its Facebook page last week. However, it has kept silence on the price tag till date. The information is a significant weapon on the intensifying battlefield involving tablets and mobile devices.

Best Buy has incorporated its in-house brand in the past to cater to customers, looking for inexpensive versions of things like HD televisions and Blu-Ray players.

The Insignia Flex is slated to hit the stores on 11^th November. It will be sold only at Best Buy, as revealed by reliable sources.

The Insignia Flex works on Android software of Google, which also powers Samsung tablets and comes with a dual-core 1GHz processor, 10-hour battery life and 9.7 inch screen, as per information divulged on the Facebook page.

It is also supposed to feature a camera capable of video conferencing and weigh about 1.45 pounces, as per the sources.

The pricing of the device compares with a starting cost of $499 for Apple’s 9.7 inch screen and $399 for the older version of iPad. Both Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD are priced at $199 each.

Best Buy’s move to release its own tablet does not imply that it will not come with rival gadgets. It was last month when Wal-Mart had decided to cease selling Kindle products. Target took a less significant decision of acknowledging the mounting threat from its online competitor.
