Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) looking to sell premium services to businesses

Facebook Inc(NASDAQ:FB) is looking to sell premium services for businesses as it looks at alternative revenue streams to boost growth, its Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg told CNBC in an interview.

“As we increase our investment in monetization, we’re thinking about premium services for business,” Sandberg said. “We’ve heard from businesses all over the world that they want more from us. There are things they’d pay for they really want us to provide. So it’s an area that we’re currently starting to explore.”

However she did not provide any specific examples of such services.

Recently Facebook conducted a survey with Datalogix to understand the impact of ads on offline sales. It came up with an interesting conclusion that click throughs on ads are meaningless and what really impacts sales are the impression that an ad makes on the viewer, as in the case of traditional ads.

There are various areas where Facebook can offer a lot to customers such as customer relationship management, analytics and data management solutions.

Facebook has a huge database available with it that is a marketer's dream and it has to intelligently monetise it.

Sandberg also did not provide any clarity on the size of the market or the opportunity for premium services that the company is looking at.
