It is getting tougher for tech companies to keep their undeclared products hush-hush and Google Inc(NASDAQ:GOOG) is not an exception here. The company’s latest Android-powered Nexus handset has just been ousted before its scheduled declaration on Monday.
According to the report of The Verge, Google’s upcoming flagship Nexus handset will be made public at the Android event on Monday, dated 29th October. A retailer leak reveals that people would be able to purchase the product the very next day.
As disclosed by Carphone Warehouse, a retailer based in the UK, the LG-created Nexus is real and will be out with Android 4.2. The version is a variant of current Jelly Bean and the upcoming Key Lime Pie. With the feature of ‘Tablet Sharing’, Android 4.2 tablets will be seen as more communal devices that can be shared by a household of users.
The Nexus 4 comes with a 4.7 inch 1280x768 resolution display, a quad core Snapdragon S4 processor, a meager 8 GB of onboard storage memory and an 8 MP camera. There is also a customary NFC chip for Google Wallet and other wireless services.
A potentially new feature exposed through the leak is Gesture Typing that is described as a Swype-like method for text input. The feature allows a user to type by dragging his finger across the screen from letter to letter.
A contract-free and SIM-free version of the Nexus 4 is one of the items in the Carphone Warehouse inventory system for $389.95 that is available in white or black. If the leak is considered to be true, then the device should go on sale after Google’s event on 29th October.
The timing of the apparent disclose seems to be fortunate for Google since it comes on the same day as Microsoft’s biggest launch of Windows 8.
