Nokia Lumia 820 and 920 in Europe: Pricing and availability details
When Lumia 820 and 920 were launched earlier this month, Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) had refrained from mentioning details about price and availability dates. But today, Nokia’s Russian subsidiary officially began to take pre-orders for both the phones. The phones will be available in the fourth quarter of 2012. While the Lumia 820 costs 19,990 rubles or $640, the Lumia 920 is priced at 24,990 rubles or $801. Smartphones have always been priced higher in Russia.

Nokia Germany has fixed a price of 499 euros or $643 for Lumia 820 and 649 euros or $836 for the Lumia 920. On the other hand, Nokia Italy has priced the Lumia 920 substantially lower at 599 euros or $771. The phones will be available in November in both the countries.

Shares of NOK are up over 2%.

Fake user accounts: Facebook starts cleanup operations

Meanwhile, Facebook Inc(NASDAQ:FB) has begun purging the site of illegitimate user accounts and fake likes. As a result, many Pages saw a reduction in the number of fans. For instance, Zynga’s Texas HoldEm Poker Page had 96,000 less fans, while the number of likes for Farmville reduced by 45,000.

A few weeks earlier the social network company had said that 9 percent or 83 million of its users were actually fakes.

“When a Page and fan connect on Facebook, we want to ensure that connection involves a real person interested in hearing from a specific Page and engaging with that brand’s content. As such, we have recently increased our automated efforts to remove Likes on Pages that may have been gained by means that violate our Facebook Terms,” read a company blog post at the time, also adding, “These newly improved automated efforts will remove those Likes gained by malware, compromised accounts, deceived users, or purchased bulk Likes.”

These fake accounts are either secondary or business accounts which should have been Pages.
