Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) will be partnering China Mobile to launch its Windows-based Lumia smartphones in China in December, a report by WPDang said on Monday.
The Nokia devices will be launched on December 6, while HTC Corp will be launching its Windows-based phones a day later, the report said.
China is an important market for most technology companies as they see it as a huge market, with a lot of purchasing power. Apple has already identified it as an important market for its iPhones and iPads. Its tablet PCs have become a huge hit with the younger generation.

U.S. and European manufacturers are however still launching their devices in the country about a month later compared to other markets.
According to the report, `Nokia is expected to show off the Lumia 920 & Lumia 820, while the HTC 8X, and HTC 8S for HTC Corp. Obviously, the two companies are competing to gain a leading position in the Windows Phone ecosystem in China.'
Though the Chinese cocky has slowed down this year, it is still growing at a faster rate compared to many of the developed economies. However pricing is crucial in the Chinese market, which is very value conscious.
Both the Lumia phones from Nokia's portfolio are priced higher than the HTC phones and this may well work against the European handset maker.
According to the report the launching of Nokia's Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 in partnership with China Mobile means competition in the black market is less, because some of the features of the Lumia 920 are unique, such as the TD-SCDMA (3G) network. It is incompatible with CDMA 2000 and WCDMA networks in China.
HTC is selling its phones unlocked and it hasn’t tied up with many of the network carriers there.
