Here We Go: Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) Unveils the new Lumia 920

Finally its out!

Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) on Wednesday unveiled its new smartphone - the Lumia 920 PureView. The smartphone was unwrapped by executive vice president Jo Harlow, righ after chief executive Stephen Elop made his opening remarks.

As has been already reported before, the phones camera comes with the PureView technology seen previously in its Nokia PureView 808. This allows the phone to take extremely high resolution pictures even at close range.

The camera in the Nokia Lumia 920 can take in five times more light than competing smartphones without using flash, making it possible to capture clear, bright pictures and video indoors and at night. It can also apparently compensate for hand movements while the photo is being taken.

Just to highlight the main features - the phone features a 4.5 inch Pure Motion HD + display, dual core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 CPU, 2,000mAh battery, NFC technology, integrated wireless charging, and of course, and 8 megapixel rear PureView camera, which is capable of recording video in 1080p.

Lumia 920 comes in yellow, red, grey, white and black. The Nokia Lumia 820 comes in red, yellow, grey, cyan, purple, white and black.

The screen of the Lumia is supersensitive and can be operated even with gloves on. The glass is re-inforced and nearly impossible to break.

Microsoft, which has built the operating system for the phone, has put in a zoom bar instead of a pinch zoom. Another interesting feature is that screenshots are now supported on Windows Phone 8.

On the applications side, which was a big source of worry for Nokia, they are going to have well over 100,000 apps and the Windows Phone 8 will run the Windows Phone 7 apps too.

Shares of NOK slumped 10.50% to $2.54, off session low of $2.41.
